The seminar was held in conjunction with Department of Town and Country Planning Golden Jubilee, mainly aimed to build relevant knowledge base, skill and to establish a two-way sharing platform for creative solutions and emerging technologies to be explored, showcased and discussed together.

Under the theme of “Towards Sustainable and Resilience Future, Together", there were a total of 17 papers presented under five thematic segments, namely “Sustainable Economic Growth", “Sustainable and Resilient Urban Environment", “Sustainable Community", “Building Sustainable and Resilient Future, Together" and “Smart Cities Initiatives".

Current urban context differs from what it was 50 years ago, requiring renewed land use planning approach and strategy. Land scarcity, climate change and social demographics and structure change are among key challenges face.

Such challenges raise three key questions for the seminar:
1. How together we will progress towards our sustainable and resilient future?
2. What can be learnt and re-learn from each other, and
3. What are best practices, tools or strategies available internationally for us to explore and learn from?

Guided by these key questions, the papers presented both by local and international speakers were intended to raise respective sectoral issues and their implications upon our land use planning agenda for the future.
